Flight Of The Tiger
Southeast Asia is a great region to
visit, and if you’re trying to decide on a break there next year, well, here’s
some news that may just help sweeten the deal. Thai Airways and Singapore-based
budget airline Tiger Airways have recently announced that the two companies will
be joining forces to create a regional low-cost carrier.
The new company – called Thai Tiger –
will be based out of Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport, and will start flying
early next year. According to Thai Airways’ President Piyasvasti Amranand,
passengers of the new airline ‘will have access to new low fare, point to point
services’ throughout the Southeast Asian region, with flights travelling within
a five hour radius of Suvarnabhumi.
The rise of more low-cost carriers in
Southeast Asia will surely come as great news to travellers from the Europe and
the UK, who are already enjoying low fares to the region thanks to
Malaysia-based low-cost carrier AirAsia. The advent of Thai Tiger should
provide more ways to explore the region on a budget. It looks like next year
will be a good time to start travelling out of your comfort zone.
