Easter Treats From The Chocolate Factory
Easter these days is virtually synonymous with chocolate bunnies and eggs. As you indulge
in these delicious treats over the next few days, have you ever wondered how
and where they were produced? If so, perhaps a visit to a chocolate factory
will help satisfy your curiosity (and your sweet tooth)?
Cadbury
World, Birmingham – Cadbury’s has been producing their popular, purple-clad
confectionaries from their premises in Bourneville since the mid-1800s. These
days,you can take a
self-guided tour through the fourteen zones in Cadbury World, and discover the
chocolate-making process for themselves. The tour culminates in ‘The World’s
Biggest Cadbury Shop’, an exciting prospect for those with a sweet tooth. If
you’re got some time left, head over to the village of Bourneville. Originally built to house the factory’s
workers, the village is thought to be one of the nicest places to live in the
UK today. Chocoholics in the Southern Hemisphere can also pay a visit to the
Cadbury World in Dunedin, New Zealand.
The
Chocolate Factory, Hutton-le-Hole – Run by two brothers, this little chocolate
factory is situated in the picturesque village of Hutton-le-Hole in North
Yorkshire. Visitors to the factory can see the chocolates being made by hand,
before moving on to the attached shop to sample the tasty results.
Welsh
Chocolate Farm, Llanboidy – Get your very own Golden Ticket and go for a tour
in this popular chocolate factory run by Pemberton Chocolates. Visitors are
treated to a chocolate-making demonstration, and get to taste some chocolate products,
before being ushered into a room to have a go at making their own confectionaries.
The farm also has a cinema screening an educational film about the history of
the cocoa bean, a sunny cafe offering snacks, and of course, a chocolate shop
so you can take some goodies home with you!
